G45-2 See-Through Vented Gas Log Systems
G45-2 see-through gas log systems are designed to present flames and approved logs from more than one viewing side. They suit specified vented see-through fireplace applications rather than serving as an automatic alternative to a single-sided log burner.
Plan the System for Both Viewing Sides
A see-through fireplace changes the dimensions and presentation that must be assessed. These decisions help establish a suitable complete package.
Fireplace Geometry
Confirm the opening, depth and configuration against the exact burner’s approved application. A peninsula or island-style appearance alone does not establish compatibility.
See-Through Logs
Use log designs approved for the see-through burner. A single-sided set may not provide the intended view or correct arrangement from the opposite side.
Package and Fuel
Verify burner size, fuel and controls together. Similar G45-family names can identify different arrangements, so compare complete model numbers rather than the prefix alone.
Presentation Compared With a Single-Sided Burner
A see-through setup creates a shared flame display between spaces. Assess sightlines and the complete log arrangement from both sides before choosing a decorative style.
The collection includes charred and traditional oak appearances. Choose among the approved combinations rather than mixing logs to improve one viewing angle.
Installation and Replacement Requirements
Have the existing fireplace and chimney assessed for the intended vented installation. Retaining an existing gas connection does not prove that a different burner is suitable.
For Toronto and GTA homes, discuss whether the goal is a visual connection between rooms or substantial heating. A decorative vented log system should not be evaluated as a sealed room heater.
Compare Configuration and Installed Cost
Include the approved logs, burner, valve or control package, connection work and commissioning. A log-only price is not a complete see-through fireplace conversion.
Confirm the supplied model’s installation documentation and any chimney work before ordering. Indoor and outdoor versions or similarly named burner families should not be assumed equivalent.
Prepare a See-Through Fireplace Specification
Photograph both openings and identify the existing installation. These checks make the proposed package specific.
G45-2 Selection Checklist
- Measure the complete see-through firebox.
- Assess chimney and approved venting requirements.
- Confirm the exact burner, size and fuel.
- Select compatible see-through logs.
- Verify supplied controls and installation parts.
- Include connection work and commissioning.
Confirm the Application Before Choosing the Logs
Start with the fireplace configuration, then compare the approved log-and-burner packages. A planned installation preserves the intended view from both sides.
