Super High Efficiency Plus: Compare RU, RUC and RUR Options
Super High Efficiency Plus tankless water heaters in this collection use condensing gas technology, with model families offering different capacity, location and recirculation arrangements. Choosing the right configuration requires a complete model comparison rather than relying on the Plus label.
Separate heating capacity from delivery convenience
A suitable heater and a suitable circulation system solve different problems. Compare these requirements before selecting a product family.
Heating output
Size for overlapping fixture use at the required temperature rise. Cold Toronto inlet water makes winter performance more useful than a warm-inlet maximum-flow claim.
Recirculation
Confirm the pump, control and approved return path. A circulation feature can address waiting at distant fixtures but does not raise the heater's simultaneous output.
Model application
Indoor and outdoor variants require different installation conditions. Verify fuel, generation and Canadian site suitability before comparing equipment prices.
Compare the actual listed generations
The collection spans RU, RUC, RUR and an RSC listing. These do not share every vent option, control function or included component. Use the individual installation manual and exact model schedule for the proposed system.
Compare efficiency using equivalent measures and operating assumptions. Do not assume the category name establishes a fixed efficiency threshold, current availability or a specific household saving.
Include the supporting installation
A condensing replacement needs suitable gas, water and electrical supply, approved venting and condensate handling. Existing recirculation valves and vent components require compatibility checks before reuse.
For GTA projects, include removal, service valves, controls, any return-line work and commissioning in the quote. Review scale-control and maintenance requirements before finalizing the location. Choosing a pump-equipped model without a compatible plumbing plan can add cost without solving the original delivery complaint.
Request a component-by-component proposal
Provide the current heater details and the hot-water problem you want corrected. These checks make family comparisons more precise.
Plus model selection checklist
- Confirm full model and generation.
- Calculate winter simultaneous demand.
- Identify included circulation components.
- Verify indoor or outdoor suitability and fuel.
- Review venting, condensate and utility scope.
- Include controls, commissioning and maintenance access.
Choose the model family around a defined capacity and delivery requirement. Compare complete installed packages rather than assuming every Plus listing offers the same functions.
