RUS Models: Outdoor Condensing Tankless Water Heaters

RUS models in this collection are outdoor condensing tankless water heaters, including RUS65e and RUS75e fuel variants. Their outdoor installation type is a fundamental selection requirement, not a minor difference from indoor RUCS equipment.

Establish outdoor suitability before choosing output

An outdoor listing does not establish suitability for every climate or building. Confirm these conditions before using capacity or price to select a model.

Climate application

Review the exact Canadian approval, operating limits and freeze-protection instructions. Do not assume an outdoor model is appropriate for a year-round Toronto installation.

Winter demand

Compare hot-water flow at the required temperature rise. A warm-inlet maximum is not the expected delivery on the coldest supply-water days.

Exposure and services

Check permitted placement, surrounding clearances and protection of water and condensate connections. Appliance freeze protection does not automatically protect all external piping.

Compare RUS with an indoor alternative

RUS outdoor and RUCS indoor configurations require different installation planning. Avoid enclosing an outdoor unit or bringing it indoors as a workaround unless the manufacturer specifically approves the resulting arrangement.

Confirm the complete fuel-specific code and current supply. Legacy model availability, controls and service parts should be checked rather than inferred from a product page or a newer family.

Price the full outdoor installation

Include gas and electrical supply, mounting, water connections, condensate provisions and any approved freeze-protection measures. A simpler-looking outdoor appliance can still require significant site work.

For replacement, inspect retained piping and mounting against the exact manual. Where GTA site conditions do not suit the selected outdoor model, compare a properly designed indoor system instead of forcing a like-for-like outdoor replacement. Maintenance access and safe isolation should remain practical after construction.

Verify the application in writing

Provide the proposed outdoor location and existing model details. Resolve these checks before ordering a unit.

RUS suitability checklist

  • Verify Canadian and climate suitability.
  • Confirm RUS65e or RUS75e and fuel code.
  • Assess winter hot-water flow.
  • Review permitted exposure and placement.
  • Plan piping and condensate freeze protection.
  • Include utilities, mounting and service access.

Choose an RUS model only after the outdoor application has been confirmed for the site. Request an indoor alternative when the location or climate requirements cannot be satisfied.
