The Barrington is our newest addition. We wanted a mantel with simpler lines that echoed some of the Federal design elements that were found in early American homes. This mantel’s slightly larger scale works with any heritage décor. Because of the greater depth to the cabinet version, it is the only mantel that works with the 534 Horizon firebox in addition to any of the 530 President options. However, this mantel cannot work with the 535 Horizon firebox, because this engine has greater clearances to combustibles.
Classic and timeless- nothing speaks ‘fireplace’ like a wood mantel. The warmth and luster of wood, and it’s ability to be shaped in endless manner, provides the perfect material with which to frame your fireplace.
All our mantels are designed with some depth to them, which gives any mantel more pleasing lines. However, this requires that the firebox be installed ahead of the drywall, whether they are used with a rebate or a cabinet mantel.
Similar with the hearth- the firebox must be installed at a certain height off the finished floor, in order to allow the hearth to be properly located. Please consult the installation manual for these specifics.
The wood mantels come in a rebate depth, necessitating the construction of a ‘chase’ [2×4 wood and drywall construction], as well as a cabinet depth. The cabinet version eliminates the need for the construction of the chase, but does require that the fireplace be located on an exterior wall.
