Things to think about when purchasing a new furnace It is a new morning in Toronto and you are considering getting a new furnace. What are the most important questions you should be asking yourself? What are the most important questions you should be asking your furnace dealer? In this article we will try to shed a bit of light on what the most important factors are when considering buying a new furnace. Buying a brand new furnace is not something most people do every day and as such, having questions and concerns is very understandable but one must approach the issue very carefully because when you buy a furnace, you expect it to last a number of years and it is with that in mind that we have narrowed it down to the most important factors. Forget about brands All major manufacturers and brands of furnaces make comparable products that deliver heat in more or less the same way with the same levels of performance and efficiencies. There are many reasons for this – for one, most major furnace manufacturers outsource many of the internal electronics and other small parts inside their furnaces to the same suppliers and they themselves only focus on a key few parts like...

ENERGY STAR Most Efficient 2013 in Canada The energy star logo is a world-recognized symbol for energy efficiency and kindness to the environment. Seeing an Energy Star sticker on an appliance can give peace of mind to us as consumers because it is an assurance that the manufacturer of the device has gone through great lengths to make sure that we get the best bang for our energy buck. The use of the Energy Star symbol in Canada is promoted and monitored by the Office Of Energy Efficiency – a part of Natural Resources Canada. Every year, NRCan and the US Environmental Protection Agency release a list of the best performing products among all those that made the Energy Star cut. These are typically awarded to products that go above and beyond what is required to ensure that the least amount of energy is wasted, usually by employing the best technology available. We are proud to say that a handful of our products made the cut into the top list this year. This is an incredible achievement and we are very proud, because we have been installing these products for years now and we stand by their quality and performance. Here, then, are the Energy Star Most Efficient...

What is the cost of a brand new Central Air Conditioner? The cold season is coming to an end but with the economy the way it is, a lot of us are now more than ever looking at value rather than luxury, and there is nothing wrong with that – but when it comes to something like a central air conditioning system, the decision-making process might get a bit cloudy. This is because since these devices are meant to last at least a decade, most people only go through this once or maybe twice in their lifetime – and the variety can be overwhelming. A new, high-efficiency central A/C goes for about $2,000 and up But that is just an average; the cost of an Air Conditioner depends on many factors like the size of the house it needs to cool, how old the house is, how efficient the Air Conditioner needs to be, the brand of the AC, and many more. One thing that is worth noting when it comes to Air Conditioners is that all the major air conditioner manufacturers offer comparable models with the same levels of performance and features. As long as you go with a recognized brand, you are going to get good performance and reliability....

What is the Best Central AC? If you are asking yourself this question, chances are you are being faced with an overwhelming amount of choices when it comes to Air Conditioning, and it can be stressful. Most major Air Conditioning brands try to outdo each other by seeking a competitive advantage either in the looks of the unit themselves, the features associated with it, noise levels, efficiency ratings, etc. but the truth is that most high efficiency AC’s made by all major manufacturers are more or less the same – they achieve the same goal at roughly the same performance levels and even their thermostats offer the same features. To assist you in the decision making process, we have broken it up into the most important factors: Warranty Central Air Conditioners are great machines but they are not perfect machines. They have a number of moving parts, electrical components, and handle fluids and pressurized air – and all of these components come in contact with the natural elements at one point or another. No matter how sturdy you build a specific component, something might go wrong along the years of operation that these machines are expected to stand. This is why you should not settle for anything less than a 10 year warranty...

How do Air Conditioners Work?

Posted by on Mar 6, 2013 in Tips & Info

How Do ACs Work? Video Courtesy of HowStuffWorks Everyone who has experienced the scorching hot and humid Toronto summers knows how great of an invention air conditioners are. Judging by the nice cool breeze that comes out of most Air Conditioners, you might be tempted to think that an AC takes the hot air in your house and cools it but what is actually doing is taking the hot air from your house and by using some clever science and mechanics it deposits it outside and what remains after taking the hot air out is the cool air that comes out. Whatever the process, I sure am glad that a guy by the name Carrier came up with it over 100 years ago and thus starting a whole revolution in home comfort. For more info, please visit:
